Mercedes-Benz W109 300 SEL 4.5 V8 Full Restoration – A US-Market Luxury Saloon Reborn

Another exceptional international project has arrived at the OTC Garage Hungary workshop: the complete restoration of a US-market Mercedes-Benz W109 300 SEL 4.5 V8. Once completed, the car will continue its journey to Germany. The aim is not simply to create an attractive exterior. This Mercedes is being comprehensively rebuilt from the bare body shell, including the suspension, air suspension system, drivetrain, electrical system and interior, right down to the final piece of exterior trim. This is the first instalment in a longer restoration series. In this opening article, we introduce the project and the carefully prepared foundation on which the following stages will be built.

Ferrari 330 GT 2+2, we Had to Assemble Before We Could Take It Apart

A matching-numbers Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series I that arrived at our workshop dismantled and packed in boxes. After spending many years in a California garage, the classic Ferrari was brought to Europe by its current German owner. Before the complete restoration could begin, we first had to assemble the car—only to document and carefully dismantle it again. This marks the beginning of the rebirth of chassis 6169, complete with its iconic red leather interior, wire wheels and original Colombo V12 engine.

Volkswagen Golf Mk1 WUR Rebuild

Complete rebuild of a Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Bosch K-Jetronic warm-up regulator. The WUR was disassembled and cleaned, its worn and sealing components were replaced, and the heating element was tested before careful reassembly. Final control-pressure adjustment is carried out in the vehicle’s own K-Jetronic system.

Mercedes-Benz W201 190E KE-Jetronic Diagnosis – Part 1

Not every KE-Jetronic problem starts with the fuel injection system. This Mercedes-Benz W201 190E arrived at our workshop for a Bosch KE-Jetronic diagnosis, but a distinctive diesel-like engine noise immediately pointed towards a deeper mechanical issue. In the first part of this case study, we reveal how incorrect camshaft timing, an improperly installed rocker arm support, severe valve train wear and metal debris inside the engine changed the entire direction of our diagnosis.

Mercedes-Benz R107 500 SL V8 Bosch K-Jetronic Diagnosis

Diagnosing Bosch K-Jetronic systems should always begin with accurate measurements rather than replacing parts by guesswork. In this article, we demonstrate the first steps of troubleshooting a Mercedes-Benz 500 SL (R107) equipped with the legendary M117 V8 engine, from verifying the mechanical timing to checking the complete fuel system
